Why is my ultrasonic diffuser not smelling?
A diffuser that runs without mist usually has a clogged nozzle (nebulizer type) or mineral buildup on the ultrasonic plate (water type). Clean the nozzle or plate with rubbing alcohol or white vinegar. Also check that the oil level or water level is not too low. If your diffuser does not work, the first step is to make sure it is properly plugged in. If it’s plugged in, and the lights nor mist will turn on, make sure there is power coming from your source. A possible cause may be mineral or oil buildup, causing the unit to have difficulty misting.
Why avoid ultrasonic humidifiers?
Ultrasonic humidifier safety These humidifiers turn water into a fine mist via high-frequency vibration. Advantages: They’re cheap, quiet and energy efficient, and they won’t burn. Disadvantages: They aerosolize not just water, but everything in it, such as bacteria and minerals. The Federal government has not concluded that using tap water in ultrasonic or impeller humidifiers poses a serious health risk. However, researchers have documented that these humidifiers are very efficient at dispersing minerals in tap water into the air.
