Is spiritual healing allowed in Islam?

In Islam, spiritual healing is a combination of our faith in Allah (swt), putting that faith in practice and taking care of our personal well-being. For Muslim women, this involves aligning physical, emotional, and spiritual needs with Islamic teachings. From Francis and Judith MacNutt, I have learned about the four types of healing: physical healing, emotional (inner) healing, deliverance from evil spirits and spiritual weaknesses/strongholds. Over the years I have been privileged to pray for all four types.

Surah Al-Fatihah is recommended as a form of ruqyah (healing through Qur’an). It is said that a companion of the Prophet (PBUH) recited it over a scorpion bite which Allah then cured. The Prophet (PBUH) smiled and asked him: “How did you know that Surah Al-Fatihah is ruqyah? Hadith | Sahih al-Bukhari]. The Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: ‘Surah al-Fatihah is a medicine for every illness. One of the names of this Surah is ‘Shafiyah,’ and another name is ‘Surah al-Shifa,’ for it is a cure for every illness.

What is a very powerful prayer for healing?

Prayer for healing from sickness My Lord and my God, help me in times of weakness and pain. I ask that You sustain me by Your grace so that my strength and courage do not fail. Please heal me according to Your will and inspire me to believe that what happens to me here is trivial in light of eternity. Amen. This 3am prayer for healing brings restoration and wholeness. Almighty God, I ask for Your healing touch upon my life. Restore my health and make me whole again. Let Your healing power flow through every part of my body and remove all sickness.
