How to identify Bobinsana?
Bobinsana can also be found alongside streams in the cloud forests and warmer valleys of the Eastern Andean slopes up to 1500 meters in elevation. Bobinsana produces pretty pink to reddish powderpuff-like flowers. Bobinsana, in Latin Calliandra angustifolia, is a medium-sized shrub growing up to a height of 6 meters. The herb likes wet climatic conditions, so we find it mostly in the Amazon rainforests in Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, and Brazil, mostly near waterways and basins.The plant has many common names, including bobinsana (alternately, bobinzana, bobensana, or bubinsana), balata, bubinianal, bushiglla, capabo, chipero, cigana, koprupi, kori-sacha, kuanti, neweí, quinilla blanca, semein, sháwi, yacu yutzu, and yopoyo.
