Is clay bad to breathe in?
Inhalation of all clay materials especially silica can damage your lungs. All clay bodies contain some free crystalline silica which can scar your lung tissue and cause irreversible loss of breathing capacity. Free crystalline silica is present in clay bodies from trace to 50% amounts. Silicosis is a long-term lung disease caused by inhaling large amounts of crystalline silica dust, usually over many years. Silica is a substance naturally found in certain types of stone, rock, sand and clay. Working with these materials can create a very fine dust that can be easily inhaled.
Does clay pull out toxins?
Bentonite clay is a type of volcanic ash that swells when mixed with water, creating a fine, absorbent paste. Advocates claim that: It binds to toxins, heavy metals, and chemicals in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. It flushes these unwanted substances out of the body. Refrain from combining bentonite clay with metal utensils or containers, as it can reduce the clay’s effectiveness.
