People use quassia for stomach and intestinal problems, diabetes, lice, skin conditions, and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support most uses. Quassia wood has been used as a bitter tonic, with a typical oral dose of 500 mg. No studies have been performed to support this dose. Several recent studies of topical quassia tincture for head lice have been reported.
