What does SVA stand for?
Student Veterans of America (SVA) is the premier organization leading service, research, programs, and advocacy for veterans in higher education. SVA was established by co-founders Silas H. Rhodes and Burne Hogarth in 1947 as the Cartoonists and Illustrators School. The school began with three teachers and 35 students, most of whom were World War II veterans who had a substantial part of their tuition underwritten by the G. I. Bill. What We Do. Student Veterans of America® (SVA) elevates the academic, professional, and personal development of veterans in higher education through chapter programs and services, outcomes and impacts research, and advocacy at every level.
